Chinese Takeout
2024
copper, sterling silver, steel, finishing wax
4.5” x 3” x 2.5”
A sculptural jewelry piece about being Chinese American and my mixed cultural heritage and origins. The hollow box speaks of the heaviness and emptiness of questions that may never be answered.
Made from one copper sheet, freehand scribed, and then etched, riveted, scored, and folded. The whole piece is held together by the steel wire, true to actual take out boxes. Patinated with liver of sulfur and then finished with wax.
