Lilium amplexus

2025

fine silver, sterling silver, silver foil, copper, enamel, overglaze, labradorite, metal dye, leather cord, stainless steel piercings

Lilium” is the Latin word for lily, and “amplexus” refers to an intimate clasp or embrace.

Lilium amplexus relocates ornamentation toward the pelvis. A place full of desire and exposure. The lily is traditionally a symbol of purity and femininity, but it becomes punctured by stainless steel piercings. These interventions echo the modifications of flesh and the agency of redefining one’s own body.

The belt itself acts as an intentional embrace. It stands as a companion to the binaries of the orchid bolos: love vs. lust. Yet this piece centers more on self-love and the resilience we carry within ourselves.
